Joseph Warren History
In December 1769 Warren, received
commission for the Earl of Dalhousie, Grand Master of Masons in
Scotland, appointing him Provincial Grand Master of Masons in
Boston and within 100 miles of the same. Thus began the Grand
Lodge of Massachusetts which eventually led to the formation of
our lodge, Dalhousie in 1860.
Joseph Warren Tavern
George Washington stopped by for
refreshments...
Paul Revere considered us one of his favorite 'watering holes'...
When Washington died his funeral speech was given here...
The Warren Tavern was probably the first building erected in
Charlestown after the British razed the town during the Battle of
Bunker Hill on June 17,1775. It was founded by Captain Eliphelet
Newell in 1780. Newell had been believed to have been a
participant at the famous Boston Tea Party and as an ardent
patriot and admirer of Dr.(General) Joseph Warren, it is natural
that he named his tavern after the fallen hero of the Battle of
Bunker Hill.

More on the castle...
Situated on the western outskirts of Brechin on a crag overlooking the River South Esk, Brechin Castle is the seat of the Earls of Dalhousie. A castle built by the Maules existed here in the 13th Century, but for nearly 300 years Brechin was a royal stronghold. In the 16th century it passed to the Erskine Earls of Mar, but in 1634 it was purchased by the Maules who were later created Earls of Panmure. Much of the present building was erected in the 18th century. There is a visitor centre and Pictish Centre in its grounds.

Clan Ramsay's Dalhousie Castle
The seat of the Ramsays is Dalhousie Castle in Midlothian. The Ramsays have retained possession of Dalhousie Castle longer than any family has retained possession of a castle in Scotland. The castle is located about eight miles south of Edinburgh on A7 at Bonnyrigg. The setting is a picturesque wooded area along the South Esk River in the parish of Cockpen. The original structure was built in the 13th century and the main parts of the present baronial mansion were constructed in 1450. The castle is of pink sandstone quarried from the opposite bank of the river and its roof is of solid lead. Dalhousie Castle, with its 15th century drum tower, closely resembled Direlton Castle, which is now in ruins.
Brechin Castle Centre
The Dalhousie Family welcome you to Brechin Castle Centre. At Brechin Castle Centre there's lots more to buy than top quality plants and gifts. And more to enjoy than the delicious home baked food in the Coffee Shop. A visit to Brechin Castle Centre is a special day out for all the family. We want to share our love of the countryside with our visitors, so we developed the Country Park and Model Farm, the ornamental lake with its bird life, and walks round 62 acres. We built the Dragon's Lair Adventure Playground because we understand that if the kids are enjoying themselves, parents can relax too.
